Syringe Use and Injection Technique

Step-by-step practical guidance for safe preparation and injection workflow.

Preparation

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and prepare a clean surface.
  2. Verify vial label, concentration, and expiry.
  3. Use a sterile syringe and needle; never reuse single-use consumables.

Dose draw

  1. Disinfect vial stopper with alcohol swab.
  2. Pull air into syringe equal to target volume.
  3. Inject air into vial, invert, and draw target dose.
  4. Remove visible air bubbles by tapping and micro-adjusting plunger.

Injection basics

  • Follow clinician-defined route and site rotation.
  • Disinfect skin before injection.
  • Insert with controlled angle and depth according to protocol.
  • Inject steadily; do not force pressure.

Aftercare and disposal

  • Do not recap by hand.
  • Dispose needle/syringe in sharps container.
  • Log dose, time, and site to maintain protocol consistency.
